The essay aims at pointing out the crucial influence women had in the French ancient régime society. Female members of the élite were expected to set standards on habits and fashions of social life. At the same time they contributed to the definition and the codification of ethical and aesthetical values of French classicism, literary and linguistic.
Il saggio si propone di mettere in luce l'influenza decisiva esercitata dalle donne nella società francese d'Antico Regime. Chiamate a dettar legge sugli usi e costumi che regolavano la vita mondana, le esponenti delle élite contribuirono infatti sul piano letterario come su quello linguistico alla definizione e alla codificazione dei valori etici ed estetici del classicismo francese.
