The paper explores the effects produced by using children's literature, picture-books and silent books, in the reception of unaccompanied minors from the world to Lampedusa aiming to promote communication and language development for those who are involved in migration flowing and life joy through story telling to children, young people and adults.
The article focuses on the pedagogical effects produced by using children’s literature in the reception of unaccompanied minors. “Silent Books: from the world to Lampedusa and back” is the project launched by the International Youth Library and the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) in Italy in 2012, which was followed by variant projects from other IBBY sections aiming to promote communication and language development for those who are involved in migration flowing and life joy through storytelling to children, young people and adults. Stefania Tondo’s text is followed by three case studies on the reception system in Italy and Greece.
