The paper sheds light on the richness and executive difficulty of the architectural apparatus, in complex forms, of the two Neapolitan chapels of the early 16th century, the monumental renowned Cappella Caracciolo di Vico in the church of San Giovanni a Carbonara, and the lesser-known Cappella of Caterina Pignatelli in the church of S. Maria Assunta dei Pignatelli. The reading of the underlying geometry, as a geometric layout and design module, guides to recognise the devices of guidance and control in construction practice. The characters that emerged attribute identity to the two chapels and new elements for their attribution.

Abstract
The paper sheds light on the richness and executive difficulty of the architectural apparatus, in complex forms, of the two Neapolitan chapels of the early 16th century, the monumental renowned Cappella Caracciolo di Vico in the church of San Giovanni a Carbonara, and the lesser-known Cappella of Caterina Pignatelli in the church of S. Maria Assunta dei Pignatelli. The reading of the underlying geometry, as a geometric layout and design module, guides to recognise the devices of guidance and control in construction practice. The characters that emerged attribute identity to the two chapels and new elements for their attribution.File in questo prodotto:
