Abstract
Theologian, historian, biblical exegete, economist, political philosopher and moral, Juan de Mariana (1536-1624) is commonly remembered and judged unilaterally, for his De Rege et regis institutione (1599), which has become a classic of the doctrines of tyrannicide. The publication, in the Italian version of this work in its entirety aims to provide the tools to exact knowledge and balanced assessment of the political thought of the Spanish Jesuit, allowing you to understand the complexity and diversity of the Treaty. Fluctuations - sometimes contradictions - in its pages, which have fueled so many readings, appear not as a sign of a limit but the richness of his thought. And 'the ambivalence of the same policy, discipline at once theoretical and practical, which pushes the author to these oscillations. The different instances should not be underestimated or considered in isolation. The prince can not fail to know them in their specificity, signoreggiarle if he wants to and not be overwhelmed by them. Stress, secret or deliberate in order to overcome the present is not the man to save government from the task of the moment, can not be delayed by the requirement that they call his office and its tasks, the knowledge of a number of variable factors, first of all the inclinations of men striving to act clever and prudent so requires.
