IDEA D'EUROPA E POLITICA DELL'EQUILIBRIO IN FEDERICO CHABOD

The main purpose of this essay is to underline the constant interest addressed by the great historian Federico Chabod to the history of the idea of Europe. In many essays, he devotes his efforts to the search of the common roots of European history. His interest to this issue and most of all his perspective is determined not only by his scientific achievements, but also by the changing contemporary events, from the thirties to the sixties of the twentieth century. The dramatic experience of the Second world war is obviously very important. It determines Chabod´s interest for the history of pacifist utopias.

In questo saggio si ricostruisce l'attenzione rivolta dal grande storico Federico Chabod all'idea d'Europa. Egli ha dedicato alla ricerca delle radici della storia comune europea numerosi saggi, la cui prospettiva è evidentemente delineata, non solo dallo sviluppo delle ricerche chabodiane, ma anche dagli eventi che attraversano la storia europea dagli anni trenta fino agli anni sessanta del Novecento. Centrale è la dramamtica esperienza della Seconda guerra mondiale, che determina l'attenzione dell'autore verso la storia delle utopie pacifiste.
