The article describes the analysis carried out on site of the masonry and brickwork in the eastern part of the protopalatial site of Monastiraki. Through direct observation of the surviving masonry and the finds related to the building, the architectural features and details have enabled the building techniques used in construction to be described. The details of the building techniques have been interpreted in constructional terms and in terms of solidity. They reveal the skilful use of a range of solutions designed to ensure the stability of the structures and reflect Minoan expertise in building techniques.
