Ungaretti e Marone, una filìa oltre gli anni de "La Diana"

The paper retraces the relationship – based on reciprocal humane and cultural support – between Giuseppe Ungaretti and Gherardo Marone during the years of fascism. An authentic testimony is provided by the first world translation of Ungaretti poetry, which was fostered by Marone himself in Argentina in 1932. In particular, the translation was the outcome of a both delicate and corageous editorial venture. An appendix contains the as-yet-unpublished Ricordo della Diana by Armando Marone, which testifies to the birth of the friendship between the two protagonists in 1916. Indeed, the text of Gherardo’s younger brother, based on a vivid recall, outlines on the one hand the circle of dianisti; on the other hand, it stresses how the bonds among the members of the Neapolitan review, directed by Gherardo himself, as influenced by unanimous estethical and spiritual values, held firm during the time, despite the often labyrinthine deological and political paths of its adherents.

L’articolo ricostruisce il rapporto di vicendevole sostegno umano e culturale tra Giuseppe Ungaretti e Gherardo Marone negli anni del fascismo. Un’originale testimonianza messa in luce nell’articolo, è fornita dalla prima traduzione mondiale della poesia di Ungaretti voluta da Marone in Argentina nel 1932, frutto di una delicata quanto coraggiosa operazione editoriale. In appendice è pubblicato l’inedito Ricordo de « La Diana » di Armando Marone che documenta la nascita del sodalizio tra i due protagonisti nel 1916. Il testo del fratello minore di Gherardo da una parte tratteggia, sul filo di una vivace memoria, il cenacolo dei “dianisti”, dall’altro sottolinea come i legami sorti tra gli animatori della rivista napoletana (1915-1917), guidata dallo stesso Gherardo, ispirati a valori estetici e spirituali condivisi, restino saldi nel tempo, nonostante i percorsi ideologici e politici – a volte labirintici – degli adepti.
