In fact, within the European Countries, Italian fertility rates and women labour participation rates are the lowest ones. Therefore, after having analyzed part-time job opportunities in Italy, the Authors, on the basis of the Bank of Italy Households Income and Wealth Survey data (year 2004), aim at verifying if today part-time job is really used to reconcile work with child care or if, in some cases, part-time workers would like to work full-time. The analysis is made considering as discriminant variables worker gender and the Italian macro-regions.
