The professional status of most workers in health care has a strong impact on the organization of the activities. Clinical laboratories in Italy are a type of health care service in which some intra- and inter-professional change processes common to many health care services took place faster than in other cases. Among these processes: the intense use of technology, the change of work content and the loss of activities in favour of other professional groups and the merging of organizational units. Therefore, labs represent a unique case to study the current and future professional dynamics in health care. The effects of these dynamics on professional communities are co-determined by behaviour of professionals inside the community.

Abstract
The professional status of most workers in health care has a strong impact on the organization of the activities. Clinical laboratories in Italy are a type of health care service in which some intra- and inter-professional change processes common to many health care services took place faster than in other cases. Among these processes: the intense use of technology, the change of work content and the loss of activities in favour of other professional groups and the merging of organizational units. Therefore, labs represent a unique case to study the current and future professional dynamics in health care. The effects of these dynamics on professional communities are co-determined by behaviour of professionals inside the community.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
