Inutili considerazioni sulla fiducia

Trust, in whatever way it is perceived - as a feeling, a commitment, a bond - recalls the important role it plays in Western thought and it is sometimes linked to other terms - collaboration, legitimacy, consent - which deepen and clarify its polysemy, but which often risk confusing its full meaning. Starting from the Aristotelian distinctions of the term friendship, linked to the concept of pistis, it still opens to a world of unfulfilled expectations, where the relationship of trust comes to be supported by law. It leads us to a dark side of the human soul: one in which trust seems to be minimized. The reflection on trust has crossed knowledge and disciplines, with a particular prominence within the economic-social disciplines, which in recent times, have shown an increasing interest in "social capital". The new centrality of the "relationship", which only in part has merged into the social dimension of the technological society of the "network", has increasingly traced the limits of national and supranational jurisdiction, in a progressive downsizing of the normative sphere of lex and ordo. Despite the multiple meanings and nuances attributed to this term, it is possible to identify a common ground on which these semantic differences have grown and diversified. Faced with the continuous challenges of this liquid time, the concept of trust as the foundation of relationships and organizations seems to impose itself with greater urgency.

La fiducia, in qualunque modo sia percepita - come sentimento, impegno, legame - richiama il ruolo importante che ha nel pensiero occidentale e talvolta si lega ad altri termini - collaborazione, legittimità, consenso – che ne approfondiscono e chiariscono la polisemia, ma che spesso rischiano confondere il suo significato pieno. Partendo dalle distinzioni aristoteliche del termine amicizia, legato al concetto di pistis, si apre ancora ad un mondo di aspettative disattese, dove il rapporto di fiducia viene ad essere sostenuto dalla legge. Ci conduce a un lato oscuro dell'animo umano: quello in cui la fiducia sembra ridotta al minimo. La riflessione sulla fiducia ha attraversato saperi e discipline, con un particolare rilievo all’interno delle discipline economico-sociali e, negli ultimi decenni, si è affermato sempre più l’interesse verso il «capitale sociale». La nuova centralità della «relazione» che solo in parte è confluita nella dimensione social della società tecnologica della ‘rete’, ha sempre più tracciato i limiti della giurisdizione nazionale e sovranazionale, in un progressivo ridimensionamento della sfera normativa della lex e dell’ordo. Nonostante i molteplici significati e sfumature attribuiti a tale termine, è possibile individuare un terreno comune su cui tali differenze semantiche che si sono accresciute e diversificate. Di fronte alle continue sfide di questo tempo liquido, sembra imporsi con maggiore urgenza il concetto di fiducia come fondamento delle relazioni e delle organizzazioni.
