Students’ educational experiences are deeply shaped by their relationship with their family, both in school and in university choices. Based on a retrospective survey of students at Suor Orsola Benincasa University of Naples, this paper explores the extent to which, and the ways in which, family influences university-related decisions, focusing on approval, expectations, and perceived support. The analysis examines decision-making and relational processes during the school-to- university transition, offering pedagogical insights into the parental role in supporting students’ choices. It also outlines future educational trajectories and collaborative practices betweeneducational agencies and families aimed at building an educational alliance that can support freedom of choice about one’s future.
Il vissuto educativo degli/delle studenti è profondamente influenzato dalla relazione con la famiglia, non solo nei percorsi scolastici, ma anche nelle scelte universitarie. Attraverso un’indagine retrospettiva con studenti/esse dell’Università degli Studi Suor Orsola Benincasa di Napoli, questo contributo si propone di esplorare quanto e in che modo la famiglia abbia inciso sulle scelte legate al percorso universitario, con particolare attenzione alle dimensioni dell’approvazione, delle aspettative e del supporto percepito. L’analisi approfondisce i processi decisionali e relazionali che caratterizzano il passaggio scuola-università, offrendo spunti di riflessione pedagogica sul ruolo genitoriale nel sostenere le scelte dei/delle figli. Ne emergono traiettorie educative future e pratiche di collaborazione tra agenzie educative e famiglie orientate alla costruzione di un’alleanza educativa che possa sostenere la libertà di scelta sul proprio futuro.
